You must treasure this sincerest recommendation from a taro addict! I am going crazy even not as a taro lover!

MOFA Dessert Shop is located near Chung Yuan Night Market, which may be well-known to dessert lovers in Chungli. When I went there for the fried rice next to it, I saw a crowd waiting in front of it even before the opening hour. It is very popular, beyond my imagination. This time, I went here on a weekend and it was still quite busy. It is inevitable to wait for a table during peak hours.

Frankly speaking, I already knew a little about MOFA Dessert Shop. It was impressive for me even when it just opened because of its dessert with good value but at a lower price.

It is shaped in a circular arc and is situated on Lixing N. St., near Chung Yuan Night Market. After having some sweets, you are recommended to go around the night market.

It is occupied on the weekend afternoon. Although there was no customer lining up, it never had any idle moment. Sometimes it is necessary to wait for a table.

However, the majority chooses to have a takeout. MOFA Dessert Shop’s mille-crepe cakes are always pretty popular, especially the taro flavor, which became such a hit recently.

Free WIFI access is provided and there is no time limit or service charge. Find your favorite seat and order your dessert at the counter.

I have been here specially for the taro mille-crepe cake. It is meant to be the signature cake of MOFA Dessert Shop.

This time, there are more cakes available, such as rainbow cheesecake, which got hot in these one to two years. Now you can get it at MOFA Dessert Shop.

The mille-crepe cake here has many flavors like taro and matcha. There are also mousse cakes now. They do not have fancy, grandiose appearance but the fantastic taste.

Taro Mille-Crepe Cake (NT$220)

I bought it before, during its most popular period. There was a crowd waiting even before the opening hour!

This was my second visit but the top one in my list was still their taro mille-crepe cake. The thick taro filling satisfies a craving; even just by looking at the cake. Its simple appearance doesn’t matter at all. You need a huge-enough stomach for it because even one piece can make you full!

Its mille crepes are delicate. It’s too dramatic saying that, every bite of the cake melts in the mouth right away, but the mille crepes are extremely thin. In comparison, the two thick layers of taro filling with some particles of taro, occupy the whole vision. Taro addicts will go crazy. I have to say: the maker is so generous.

It tastes super creamy, but the taro particles add a chewy texture.

Compared to other cakes, it does not rot your teeth. I even doubt if it is a sugar-less one. It may be too much for those who don't have a huge appetite, so they are suggested to share it with friends.

I like its creamy and delicate taste.

When it melted in my mouth, I could enjoy the aromatic flavor of taro and the mouthfeel of the mille crepes. Overall, it is finger-licking good. What is most attractive is that it is never cloying.

Dream (NT$140)

When I came here last time, this cake was not available yet. I was lucky this time to have the opportunity to try it.

It is named “Dream,” which is intriguing. It gives dreams a colorful image. Besides, there is sugar powder on the surface, making it adorable.

image

It is with beautiful gradient rainbow colors, bringing a sense of girlishness. Apart from the taro mille-crepe cake, it was what I want to try most.

image

I thought it tastes like yogurt rather than cheese.

Its texture was mushier and creamier. Besides sweetness, it also had fresh sourness. The bottom cookie was crispy. In addition, this cake was not sickly sweet even if I had it all. I liked it so much as well.

Taro Cake

If you are old friends of MOFA Dessert Shop, this cake may not be a stranger to you. It is classic and well-sold here apart from the taro mille-crepe cake.

What changed was that: it was sold in the whole cake before, sometimes booking was even required, but it is sold in piece now due to plenty of customers’ affection with it. So, it is so glad to have it!

The stuffing is so rich, moist and creamy. Their taro-filling desserts are truly irresistible!

image

The top and bottom are soggy chiffon cakes.

They specially use Dajia taros. With temptation, the salty and sugary honey cheese sauce on the surface even eliminates people’s control of consuming the sweet. I thought the saltiness somehow accentuated the honey.

image

In my words, this cake had a richer taste.

The cake was soft, and the taro filling was thick. The special sweet-salty sauce was most impressive for me, which was so aromatic. Though the taro mille-crepe cake is the most popular one, I consider this is not inferior to the taro mille-crepe cake!

Plum juice (NT$60)

I didn’t have the opportunity to have this homemade plum juice on my first visit to MOFA Dessert Shop, so this time I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

In my imagination, dessert goes well with sugar-free beverages; however, now I think plum juice is also a good idea. Sour and sweet, with a little ice, it makes me pure and fresh.

This plum juice hits the spot. It is appetizing and can cut the cloying feeling out.

It fits the taste and refreshes summers. There is also an aroma of pickled plums. It costs merely NT$60 to have a glass of it. This is really a bargain!
